Polluting by Computer is the sixteenth episode in the first season of Captain Planet and the Planeteers.

Plot Synopsis[]

Dr. Blight hacks into the environmental agency's database to turn parks into legal dumping sites for Sly Sludge. The Planeteers are sent to investigate the matter. Unfortunately, Dr. Blight also hacked false information to label the Planeteers to be wanted eco-terrorists.

Individual Ring Use[]

Earth Ring[]

  • Sprays mud onto the windshield on one of Sly Sludge's trucks, subduing it and causing a pileup.

Fire Ring[]

  • Sets ablaze a small paper bag a man was holding, creating a diversion for Wheeler and Linka.
  • Used in tandem with the Wind ring to start a fire sprinkler system. Fire ring ignited trash in a nearby trashcan providing smoke.
  • With the Wind ring, links up with the Heart Ring to notify Ma-Ti of Linka and Wheeler's predicament.

Wind Ring[]

  • A small whirlwind is created to repel a flock of pigeons flying too close to the Geo Cruiser.
  • A small gust is created over stacks of paper in the computer room, which is then combined with a policeman and the owner of the computer, wrapping both up, preventing them from apprehending Linka and Wheeler.
  • Engulfs Wheeler and Linka in wind and initially attempts to transport them to the top floor, however the trip is ended short of the top floor as Wheeler is too heavy for Link to maintain the wind.
  • Used in tandem with the Fire ring to start a fire sprinkler system. Wind ring carried the smoke from nearby burning trash to engage the sprinkler system quicker, setting it off.
  • With the Fire ring, links up with the Heart ring to notify Ma-Ti of Linka and Wheeler's predicament.

Water Ring[]

  • Manipulates a waterfall to pour water on a dirt road in an attempt to subdue Sly Sludge's convoy. This fails initially as the first truck drives right through it.

Heart Ring[]

  • Links up with Wind and Fire rings to notify Ma-Ti of Linka and Wheeler's predicament.
  • Calms down a watchdog allowing Ma-Ti to approach and pet it.
  • Allows Ma-Ti to discover the secret entrance to a building by reading the watchdog's mind.
  • Allows Ma-Ti to telepathically tell Linka and Wheeler to combine their powers for Captain Planet.

Significant Moments and Facts[]

  • While Doctor Blight and MAL played a significant part in the events of this episode, the only eco-villain who the Planeteers ever find out is involved is Sly Sludge.
